1st Amendment-1st Vote’s Video Series Wins Two 2022 Telly Awards

1st Amendment-1st Vote, Inc (1stA-1stV), along with production team members Melina Carnicelli, 1st A-1st V Board President and Founder; Filmmaker Peter Rafalow of Notion Pictures; and Cathy Tripiciano of Maple Seed Creative, recently won two 2022 Telly Awards for ONLINE VIDEO. The series was funded in part by Humanities New York, The Fred L. Emerson Foundation and the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor.

The series overview video, “Honoring Sacred Ground of the Haudenosaunee” received a Silver Telly Award for Online Video: General History. The video features an original song by the late GRAMMY AWARD winning artist, Joanne Shenandoah. The entire five part video series received a Bronze Telly Award for Online Video Series: Education and Discovery.

The five-part series takes students on a virtual journey to 11 historic sites along The Central New York Women’s Rights Corridor; credited as the “Birthplace of Women’s Rights in America.”

The video series was conceived and executive produced by Melina Carnicelli as a way to connect 1stA-1stV students to some of Central New York’s women’s rights sites during the Covid-19 pandemic. All production and post-production of the award-winning series was by Peter Rafalow of Notion Pictures. Online distribution of the series and website design was managed by Cathy Tripiciano of Maple Seed Creative, LLC.

The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding video and television across all screens. Established in 1979, The 2022 Telly Awards received over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents. Entrants are judged by an industry body of over 200 leading experts including advertising agencies, production companies, and major television networks, reflective of the multi-screen industry The Telly Awards celebrates. ViacomCBS, Warner Bros., Feed the Children, Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, Sony Music Entertainment, Microsoft, and ESPN were also among this year’s Telly Winners.
